That is it in a nutshell--one of the perks of these debates. I never thought for one minute I would listen to his beloved 9-18-87 (not sure I have the date right, but the one where Jerry sings La Bamba; see, I didn't 'archive' it in my collection since I thought I would just listen once and discard...no offense, Dire!) and reply to Dire with anything less than, "yeah, okay, but..." Just the opposite: made a 'for the car' CD and find myself listening to it regularly...shocking for me, absolutely shocking.

I for one find the LaBamba tune in the middle of Good Lovin one of the reasons to love this band. It slides in and out perfectly, the crowd goes wild, Jerrys spanish seems wonderful, and not a note is missed. i think they may have actually played it acouple times. That was a good show, by the way.

caught them doing it the week (or so) before at Providence - was a blast and a real treat live (although the MSG is better than the Prov one)

The MSG La Bamba is better and tighter. I was also at the providence shows and if you are a Mydland fan I encourage everyone to listen because he is all over the place, particularly night 3

I had the post space from the dead head hour on a loop my whole senior year of HS. " me and you and good lovin too" always stuck with me on this version. Also loved the hey pocky breakout RI. Being underage at the time, I was shocked we didn't get hauled away for open container. The cops were all over the place for that Prov. run

the friggin cops at Prv were always ridiculous - dead or not - sittin like the roman legions upon their horses with their batons. a bunch of total assholes. they always made a decent situation worse don't ya think??? great indoor venue - speakers all throuhout the halls and the halls all carpeted - could dance anywhere and hear the show in full stereo - but outside sucked - the indoor security was great - bunch of cool dudes who would even dance with the heads. again - outside = gestapo, inside = sgt schultz good times overall since 84 when i saw my first show there.

Hartford was no better either. The best place was Oxford plains ME in 88. Nobody around for miles

oh man - you were there for that too???? was that awesome or what - not at cop to be seen for miles and a totally cool scene (although there was a gate crashing either the first or second show, i cant remember which)

great times though camping out for those shows - great people and good vibes even with the rain over night. love maine and right along my favorite ski driving route to sunday river :)

glad you could share in the good time with me - wish i knew you then - we could have shared in the blast together man - good times :)

summer right before I went to college. Little feet opened. The guys I was with were able to bring a jug/cooler into the place. Secruity was cool. Just as we got situated on the field each guy takes a glad baggie of booze out of their pants and mixes it. The hanglider during bird song. Amazing. To this day I still couldn't tell you how to get there. Boondocks bigtime

security was unreal!!! (wait..... there was security?.....) those were the days in maine!!!! great weekend though huh??? nitrous balloons galore and free for all everywhere with no busts to be seen anywere - and peace all around - no fights - no problems - no nothing from my vantage point - a very well managed event from the promoters and the cops standpoint - props to them - they did a fine job letting us be.

You know, i've heard about this fave show of Dire's from '87. I confess to having only two shows from that entire year, one from the Greek and the other from Shoreline. In fact, for the years '86 thru '94 i have a total of 14 or 15 shows. But that '87 show def. sounds like a show i should seek out and listen to. Thanks to both you and wolfboy for the recommendation.

Arbuthnot, try 3-29-90. pretty much all of late march '90 the boys are simply 'together', if you know what I mean! 3-24-90 also. If you haven't given this month a listen yet, you should!

Arbuthnot- I agree with Dancinbears that you should give 3-29-90 a listen. I listen to very little from the 90's also-bing a 70's fan mostly but that is one show I have favorited and wouldn't mind downloading. Not in the top ten but real good

D-bears & T-tripledip ... thanks for the recomendation re: 3/29/90. Oddly enough, i've actually got that on my list of shows to keep an eye out for, so someone or something must already have pointed me to that show, but many thanks all the same. And thank you wolfboy for the kind offer to make a copy of this show ... it is hugely appreciated. And not to worry, this 'lazy piece of crap' is now well rested and ready for the morrow. Ha, ha, man ... you keep forgettin' i know where you live ;)

jealous?? - ok, maybe a bit ;)

camera? - cool (snicker snicker)

just remember though - if T catches you taking any kind of "wayward" shots, you may need your jaw rewired, and a new camera - lol. (never mind if J catches you) Hope you will be wearing your running sneakers....
